Timber Houses of the Modern Age Holzbauten der Moderne

In 2005, the city of Niesky acquired the Konrad Wachsmann House, which was in danger of falling into disrepair. As part of the restoration programme, they created an exhibition and this book about the beginnings and historical development of modern timber construction. This fascinating book focuses on the development of industrialized wooden construction in the modern age, the company Christoph & Unmack and the architect Konrad Wachsmann. It also contains an architectural guide documenting the impressive and extensive inventory of wooden buildings in the Niesky urban area.
