Le Corbusier Paper Models: 10 Kirigami buildings to cut and fold.
We’ve officially declared this a very cool gift. Kirigami is the Japanese art of cutting and folding paper. If you think of Origami as folding paper then kirigami includes cutting it.
Each project features step-by-step instructions and a template that you can remove from the book. Follow the lines on the template, cutting and folding to make your own model. All you need is a craft scalpel knife, a surface to cut on a ruler. There are lots of tips and photos of the finished model shows.
Featured cut and fold models:
Villa Stein de Monzie, Poissy
Unité d’habitation, Marseille
Maison Citrohan (concept for an exhibition 1920)
Maison de Week-End, Le Celle-Saint-Cloud
Maisons Jaoul, Neuilly sur Seine
Maison de la Culture, Firminy
Villa Sarabhai, Ahmedabad
High Court, Chandigarh
Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Cambridge Massachusetts
And OMG we love this!
Created by Marc Hagan-Guirey, a kirigami paper artist and design director. He’s worked with the National Theatre, the London Transport Museum and Samsung to namedrop a few of his clients.
