Lukas Novotny makes highly detailed illustrations of loved modernist and brutalist buildings in his adopted city of London. Lukas explains,
‘Barbican print features the Barbican Centre, two of the famous Barbican Towers and one of the lower blocks. The complex is one of the foremost landmarks of Brutalism worldwide, not just in London. Unlike other estates from that period, it never underwent a “rough period” as it had what the other projects lacked – rigorous maintenance, prosperous residents and perfect location. It is (and always was) a much sought-after place to live.’ Lukas illustrated the buildings using original architectural elevations, photographs, and 3D models. Cross-referencing various sources allows for a high level of detail.
